The word ‘manifestation' means to create or transform something from an idea into a physical reality. In psychology, manifestation generally means using our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs to bring something into existence. It is the conscious creation of the circumstances and outcomes that make for a fulfilling life.
The premise for understanding how manifestation works, is to firstly grasp the different approaches between; 'fixed versus growth' mindset. Acclaimed researcher, Dr. Carol Dweck, explores how these methodologies influence our perception of self and how we perceive our own capabilities.
Fixed Mindset
Your view of 'self' can determine everything. If you believe that your qualities are unchangeable — the fixed mindset — you will want to prove yourself correct over and over rather than learning from your mistakes. Those with a fixed mindset believe that their abilities and intelligence are fixed traits, largely determined by their innate qualities. They tend to see their abilities as static and may avoid challenges or give up easily when faced with obstacles because they fear failure. Their view on 'failure' is seen as a reflection of their inherent inadequacy, which causes them to internalize failure as a blow to their self-worth and may be less likely to bounce back from setbacks.
VRS. Growth Mindset
On the other hand, individuals with a growth mindset believe that their abilities and intelligence can be developed and improved over time through effort, learning, and perseverance. They see challenges as opportunities to learn and setbacks that can be overcome with dedication and hard work. Additionally, individuals with a growth mindset view failure as a valueable learning experience. They see it as an opportunity to identify areas for improvement and are more resilient in the face of adversity.
Beliefs Matter
It is important to note that most people exhibit a combination of both mindsets in different areas of their lives. One can cultivate a 'growth mindset' by recognizing limitations and challenging fixed mindset beliefs by adopting a more open attitude towards learning, effort and development. How this circles back to the concept of 'manifesting your dreams' is simply narrowed down to your own beliefs and perception of self. The only thing getting in the way of your thoughts manifesting into your much-desired state or situation are your conflicting beliefs and expectations. Your beliefs can limit your life or see it expand to greater heights, hold you back from your deepest desires or propel you forward towards manifesting your dreams.
Remember, your mind is like a magnet and you will attract what you think about. Focusing on the good things that are already going on in your life is the best way to manifest even better experiences. This is because the thoughts you are having create a frequency, and if you are thinking more positive thoughts and feeling good about things, that creates a higher frequency than if you are complaining, finding fault or being negative about your life. This does not mean that negative thoughts are necessarily 'bad' and that you should ignore them. Often, they are clues to deeper emotional wounding that still needs to be explored, felt and released with love. When 'like attracts like' in the realm of thoughts, you want to ensure your mind stays locked on all the positivity that surrounds you. Feeling a sense of gratitude is the key to raising your frequency and bringing more joy into your life. Overall, the secret to manifestation is both a harmonious combination of: your imagination conceptualizing your deepest desires and the sheer willpower, discipline, determination to bring it into existence.
